Preacher keeps asking, however did you get this way
Preacher stop interrupting, let me have my say
I've led a very hard life, let me tell you please
I'm a lost soul with no redeeming qualities

Preacher says son, there's someone I want you to meet
She's a hard charging woman, she'll get you on your feet
You need a strong woman and she's woman enough
She won't stand for no carousing, she won't take no guff

They say that I'm a sinner, gonna stay that way
They say I'll try to drink all night and drink all day
They think they're gonna save me, gonna change my plan
Is there any chance for a church goin' woman and a honky tonk man

When I first met her, I was pleasantly surprised
She was walking upright, not too hard on the eyes
She's built low to the ground and that's what I need
Built for dependability and not for speed

All I had to my name was a folded ten spot
What have I got to lose, I'll just give it a shot
Well, she never stops talking, now what do I do
Hey there preacher, what did you get me into

After much preaching and converting, I have changed my ways
I'm gonna be upstanding for the rest of my days
People still say the same when they see us in the van
